I'm in search of literature dealing with the construction of socio-technical systems especially for the purpose of rural power supply. Please reply if someone is aware of it. Thanks in anticipation.
Prof. Frank Geels, see list of publications below, has studied many socio-technical systems with attention for their multi-level aspects.
From these studies one could derive guidelines, or points to pay attention to in the construction.
Some studies/projects on power generation, that crossed my attention during the past years have been tagged on Twitter with #isic3510 (see the third link).
I invite you to contribute your findings to the Actor Atlas page on the topic (4th link).
I would recommend that you contact the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association's international division. Jim Walsh ([email protected]) might be a place to start.
To start with community need to told about the project; they have to have role to play; involve them in planning stage; The Community need to be organized into appropriate forum. Best is Village Energy Committee. Hope that whatever i have observed in the field, expressed here. You can contact ITCOT, or TEDA located in Chennai.
Thanks Ravi. Will it be possible for me to interact with any of the officials at ITCOT or TEDA to know more about this i.e., to learn the process of embedding technical system within the social context of the village. If so, would you please give me some references. Also i'd like to know if there are any off-grid/distributed renewable energy projects implemented by TEDA/or relevant organization in villages of Tamilnadu so that i can explore them. Thanks once again.
