The literature review stage of writing an article or starting a new project can be time-consuming. What tips or strategies do you have to make the process more efficient and streamlined? Do you use any tracking or organizational tools to aid your work?
Utilizo as palavras-chave para obter os dados da investigação e providencio uma rigorosa seleção das fontes (vínculos institucionais do autor, a revista em que foram publicados os artigos e ensaios, a editora dos livros). Faço um rastreamento da produção em sites acadêmicos (institutos e universidades respeitadas pela comunidade científica). Em seguida procedo a leitura crítica e produzo fichas de leitura (construção de um arquivo pessoal).
1) Conduct a comprehensive bibliographic search of books and articles in your area. Read the abstracts online and download and/or print those articles that pertain to your area of research.
2) Find whether there are ideas go together or in dialogue with each other, ideas that contradict each other in order to come up with a way of organizing the ideas that makes sense and rearrange them. Then write your conceptual schema down before you forget.
3) Choose any section of your conceptual schema to begin with. You can begin anywhere, because you already know the order. Find the envelope with the excerpts in them and lay them on the table in front of you. Figure out a mini-conceptual schema based on that theme by grouping together those excerpts that say the same thing. Use that mini-conceptual schema to write up your literature review based on the excerpts that you have in front of you. Don’t forget to include the citations as you write, so as not to lose track of who said what. Repeat this for each section of your literature review.

I would like to add few simple and useful tips. Start survey with few but important, latest and relevant papers published in good impact journals, go thoroghly and also go to their references. It will save your valuable time.

Search your institutional links and/or Google by important key words of your topic -- get some articles (abstract as well as PDF of article) -- download or copy all these and keep in a file. During searching, try to notice the link articles of the right side also. You may get some good articles from these links.
You may check the link articles shown in the direct links or reference section of the article of your topic in Wikipedia. Download those as per your choice.
Then select required portion from the downloaded articles etc. with references together -- make another word file and paste these. Afterwards, select the required portion from it.
