Hello, i'm using ZnTe to detect THz waveform in electro-optic sampling. I'm using the formula L*2/c to get the time related to the path length, however i'm getting a periode much shorter than the ones mention in the litterature. Any reccomndations ? Thanks in advanec
An Optical Delay Line (ODL) is an electric-optic-electric instrument. It performs fixed time delay(s), between 0.01 and 250 μsec for RF signals up to 40GHz and more. The optical signal is transmitted into a long single-mode fiber, usually at a 1.55 micron wavelength or similar.
If L is the change in position (rather Delta L) for the delay line, and it's retro-reflector (which I believe it is for a THz-TDS) setup, then you have the right relationship. Can you be more specific and let me know what type of "periods" you get? As a rule of thumb per each one cm of delay position change you should expect about 66 ps in delay time.
Thank you for your answers. To answer your question Hassan, i should get a periode arounf 1 ps of the THz wave, instead i find 200 fs....
I was wondering if the relationship should be L*2*n/c (where "n" is the refractive infex of ZnTe)....
