you can measure the shape memory effect in different ways.
1. Bend Test Method :
Prepare a sheet of 0.5/1 mm thickness from the prepared alloy using rolling machine. Bend the sheet around the mandrel, note down the bent angle and heat the deformed sheet above Austenite finish temperature + 15 degree Celsius for 1 min. Note down the recovery angle and calculate the shape recovery percentage.
2. Compression method :
Prepare a cylindrical rod of 10 mm dia and 30 mm height from the prepared alloy, compress it for the required strain and heat the deformed rod above Austenite finish temperature + 15 degree Celsius for 10 min and calculate the difference in the original, compressed and recovered heights of the specimen, then using the above calculate shape recovery.
