I have a complete genome sequence of a virus which I have to store as a lab record. I would prefer an electronic version of the sequence data storage over the paper copy. Can anybody suggest an idea of how to do it better?
Dear Christopher, I appreciate your response. Looks like you have extensive genomics experience. Could you please define clearly what you meant with high tech collaborator for assay and bioinformatics?
We keep a copy of the human genome sequence on our laptops for everyday work in addition to larger servers. For long-term storage, once the sequence is deposited in GenBank it cal be retrieved from there any time.
An excellent resource on the web is the SDSC Biology workbench. This is a free online resource to store DNA and protein sequences, with built in processing tools that can accessed from anywhere you have an internet connection. Hope this helps,
