I have diet composition of a species in an area (10 different components) for two different years. So I have two columns (year 1 and 2) and 10 rows (the food items), and the cells are filled with proportions. I want to test if there is a statistical difference in diet between the two years. What test do I use?

Si tienes el registro completo bien estandarizado durante X periodo de tiempo lo que puede hacer es separar ciertos individuos y realizar un modelo de medidas repetidas en el tiempo para probar el efecto intraindividuo. Después realizas una comparación por Tukey entre las 2 dietas y compruebas cuál tuvo efecto más significativo a nivel individual.
You may check Biostatistical Analysis by J.H. Zar (2nd ed., 1984) for comparing more than two proportions by Chi-square test.

The diet is in proportion so I would suggest you use the Chi-square test or non-parametric test such as the Man Whitney U test/Wilcoxon rank test.
