As a suggestion, try using a C18 column. If the compounds of interest are very water soluble, you still may not be able separate them from the DMSO, but it works with rather water soluble compounds. A flash column can be used for this purpose.

What you might try is "wide-polarity range" chromatography on a small amount of compound. While removing the DMSO, you may as well try to do an initial purification. Load a little extract on a conditioned column, run a gradient from water to 100% methanol, then another gradient from methanol to 100% dichloromethane. Collect fractions, and evaluate for biological activity. This set of gradients allows elution of very non-polar compounds as well as the more common compounds that elute from C18. An AQ type C18 column allows starting the gradient chain in water, otherwise you should start at 5% methanol.

After you determine the approximate solvent conditions that elute the biologically active compounds, you can maybe eliminate the chained gradient, and optimize the loading to both remove DMSO and purify the compound.
