How do I obtain permission to use figures and tables from a published papers? I think that a difficult process if we are writing an review article with a lot of figures and tables taken from several references and Publishers.

I think there is no short-cut to this problem. Also it is honest and fair-practice to approach the authors/copyright holders and get written permission. This will not only help to connect with people, but also would save from future conflicts of interest/copyright violations. Happy review!!
