How do I implement HARQ in wireless transmission (MATLAB)?

I want to implement HARQ in my wireless transmission where AWGN and Rayleigh channel is included. The data was transmitted from sender to receiver in one-way manner. For example,if I'm using CRC for Error detention and i.e BCH codes for error correction without any re-transmission schemes or acknowledgement, have I fully simulate the HARQ or is re-transmission and acknowledgement is still needed to be consider in this transmission.
