On the cellulose paper only -OH functionality is present. So you can easily reacted with epichlorohydrin to create functional epoxy (or oxiran) groups on the cellulose under alkaline conditions. This reaction also provides some degree of cross-linkage on the cellulose. The available epoxy groups can be used for covalent coupling of lipase enzyme via -NH2, or -SH groups of the enzyme at pH between 8.8-9.0.
