I have been try to export simple meshes as data files as to implement them in matlab scripts. My work is usually in the ANSYS workbench - Geometry Design Modeler & Meshing Application tools.
Following command lists the elements and associated node numbers:
Utility Menu > List > Elements > Nodes + Attributes
You can save the data as a .lis file that may be open by any text editor. To find the coordinates of the node use following command:
Utility Menu > List > Nodes ...
You can match each node to its corresponding coordinate by a little effort in MatLab.
Ok I am definitely seeing that ANSYS is very flexible in this regards and that there are a lot of options for extracting the data. Does anyone have any specific recommendations if my end goal is to be able to alter my extracted geometry models/data in MATLAB and then re-upload them to ANSYS? (i.e. using MATLAB to alter/optimize the geometry models based on simulation results from FLUENT)
Hi Hauke, I have been able to get a handle on extracting/importing models using APDL input files as you've suggested a while ago and am now moving towards the process of trying to alter the model in MATLAB, do you think I could indeed get that Matlab script off you for extracting the nodel data?
