the unit of the data is not mm.month-1 but mm.hr-1. It is a modelled average hourly precipitation, so if you want (estimated) monthly sums just multiply it by the number of hours in each month. However, it is not necessary since the final map will tell you more or less the same story.

I want to compare the data from TRMM (monthly precipitation) with rain gauge data, also on the monthly scale.

But how should I proceed to do this? Multiply the value of each cell by 24 (hours.day) x 30 (days.months)?

Or is there a particular equation for each month to arrive at the estimated precipitate value?

I think that just multiplying is fine, but you need to use the number of days in each month, not just general 30. However, you should be aware of the fact that this is just quite crude estimate and not real value.

After estimating monthly values, I recommend validating with some observations from local meteorological stations. Often satellite estimates are for coarse mapping and need to be verified for use in hydrologic applications.

This is exactly what I want to do, Timothy: transform the data from TRMM 3B43 (mm.3h-1) to mm.month-1 to be able to compare with real rainfall data (mm.month-1) from my region.
