I know there must be a really simple answer but I have wasted hours looking in books and google and I am broken from data analysis.
I have two times (Time get up and go test). It is stop watch data taken in week 0 and then stop watch data taken two weeks later. It is in seconds.
I am using SPSS and excel and just trying to get them to compare the times for me, but nothing is working and nothing is making sense. Of course I could work it out manually...but I don't think I can just add and substract without some sort of data to show it is significant in a dissertation report.
I work full time and my tutor is not around on weekends so I am really alone and just don't know what else to do. If someone could help I would be grateful.

Are your data taken from the same people? If so, you need to enter them in two variables in SPSS or whatever package you are using so that the time0 and time1 values for each participant are side-by-side.
TUG data tend to have awkward outliers so my preference would be for the euphoniously-named Wilcoxon Matched-Pair Signed-Ranks test.
If you have two groups of several observations each , you can use t-test , but if you just have two means of the two treatments, you can use Chi- square. Cheers.
Olivia Tasker : Warning – you cannot compare two means using a Chi-squared test. Medhat Elsahookie 's answer underlines the principle that free advice is often worth what you paid for it.
If you have two means such as observed and expected, it is suitable to use chi-square test .
