I'm looking to compare cost structures & business models across online & physical retailers. I'm especially interested in concrete examples/cases that compare the costs for online and offline, either across companies or even within the same company. I'd also like to understand how these evolve as a company adds scale.

I'd really appreciate being pointed towards recent studies that might touch on these areas, and I'm interested in people's opinions too.
