You may need to define which field and area you are willing to search. Then decide which search database you will use accordingly. Google Scholar accommodate different fields and specialties of knowledge, while PubMed is a database that you may use for searching for medical and other allied health sciences. Other databases such as Web of Knowledge covers a wide range of knowledge. You may search by using the first author or keywords related to the topic of your search. The techniques of searching and how to master them may need some reading and practice. PubMed guidelines can be of help. I hope this helps.
