Hello everyone,

I am trying to model a DCB (mode-1) test for a carbon-fiber composite sample. However, I am a bit confused since I am very new to modelling and ABAQUS so I am looking for some help.

For composite structures, it is said that cohesive zone method is one of the best choice to model the initial crack area but in our experiments, we used a teflon film as crack initiator. That's why I am a bit confused. How could I model this teflon film in ABAQUS? Should I model it as a cohesive element with some values that I found on literature ? Does the element/material of the crack area has an effect on results ?
