Is there any relationship between metals in cement with strength of concrete? Metals such as Cd, As, Ni, Zn, Cu affects the strength of mortar/concrete or not?
At high content,, I mean when these metals incorporated in fine or coarse aggregates depending on their physic-mechanical properties the compressive strength will be enhanced or decreased,, for example when you use magnetite or hematite as coarse aggregates (ores with high iron content) or steel punching,, the unit weight and the compressive strength will be higher than the ordinary mix,, but if the metal has high crushing value even if it has great density that will badly affect the strength of the concrete. Of-course I speak mainly about the compressive strength because impact and tensile need other requirements and reinforcements.
