Some translation scholars are excellent in translating written materials, but they feel nervous at the moments before starting interpreting in conferences and meetings. What is the solution?
Training is one thing surely but mastery of the material translated is also very important and a must in order to raise the level of confidence. In German we say ‘Übung macht den Meister’ (Practice makes perfect) which refers to both training and mastery of the content. Many other factors like family support, love, comfort etc. play a role.
