We are producing PEI membrane as support for gas separation membranes via phase inversion method by casting solution of PEI/NMP and water as coagulant. We cast on polyester support but membrane shrinks and rolls after drying. How can we solve the problem? Does any one have any experience?

I faced the same problem when I was using PI(Matrimid), the membrane tends to shrink after casting, and to overcome this problem we tried to optimize the solvent ratio which at the end gives a good casted membranes. but we used phase inversion in air not coagulation bath. hope this will be helpful
