After a cooperative spectrum sensing process is carried out in cognitive radio networks, how do we ensure an effective decision making process so as to positively effect the energy efficiency of the network?
In cooperative spectrum sensing there are three methods to combine the sensing data relayed to central node or fusion centre (FC) i.e. OR strategy, AND strategy and Majority rule. You can go through following article by YC Liang:
"Sensing-throughput tradeoff for cognitive radio networks" and references therein.
This work establishes some fundamentals of cognitive radio network throughput for wireless regional area networks (WRAN) for example IEEE 802.22 in TV white space. However, cognitive radio has got recent application in wireless sensor networks deployed in unlicensed band, because unlicensed band is becoming more popular these days and due to the density of nodes in licensed band the overall noise floor increases thereby degrading the quality of network.
