Hi everybody,

Steel chips was used as a filter in a column study. A synthetic water containing tap water + two nutrients including MnSO4 and KH2PO4 was made in the laboratory and pumped to the column (with a pH ~ 6.8). The water samples were taken from the inlet and outlet throughout the experiment and processed for different parameters including pH. A significant increase of pH levels was detected in the effluent of the column, and now I am wondering to know how can we justify this increase? Any thought and idea will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Sara
