Use of herbicide in crop production is a vital management technique to get higher productivity and low cost of cultivation. As a result, its indirectly add some quantity of chemical element in the environment. for example, chlorinated herbicides are releasing more amount of chlorine element. The herbicide residues can be estimated by using HPLC and GC. The protocol using to estimate the residue is expressing the quantity which has been more than Below Detectable Level (BDL). But, still the herbicide residues are persistent in the environment. Some group of herbicides adds more residues to the field. It’s more important to study the effect of herbicides on the environment.
For experimental purposes, radio labeled compounds are the way to go.... you can trace movement of the element of interest if it is labeled and then generalize the findings depending the total amount of that herbicide used per unit area.
Herbicide residues can be analyzed in soil, water, plant and food samples. It is possible to analyze using standard procedures. It is not difficult to analyze. You can download research papers in online for analyzing pesticide residues

Thanks for the answer. Of course, i agreed that radio labelled compound is one of the way to identify the element movement. Whether it is practically possible to identify the element when farmers field. My intention is that, the chemical elements released by individual herbicide used in the field should be identified. We can estimate some quantity of molecules through HPLC and GC but, the chromatochraphy method is not suitable to estimate minor quantity elements. If at all we use, we need to use more amount of costly chemicals. Once again thanks for your response

Thank you very much for your reply. The herbicide residue can be analyzed in soil, water, plant and food samples by using HPLC and GC. In my project, i have estimated the residue present in the soil as well as plant samples with help of our soil scientist. My intention is that, the undetectable chemical elements (for example, chlorine from chlorinated herbicides released by individual herbicide used in the field should be identified. We can estimate some quantity of molecules through HPLC and GC but, the chromatochraphy method is not suitable to estimate minor quantity elements. If at all we use, we need to use more amount of costly chemicals to get good data with huge prepared samples. Once again thanks for your response
