I am working in industrial sector and need to verify the effect of ZnO on range of firing in order to trade-off raw material cost and appearance in the fast-firing process. Noted that, the lab equipment is old-fashioned so, I need as simple method as it could be.

you can use an heating Microscope and observe the characteristic point, i.e. beginning of softening, sphere and half sphere in the range of temperature of fast fixing technology. There is an other simple method consisting to prepare a pressed cilinder of powdered frit put it on the surface of a ceramic substrate and give an inclination in the owen; after the firing cycle you can observe the formattino of a drop slipped on the surface and make a correlation with the content of ZnO respect to a standard.
Dear Giovanni Baldi,Thank you for your answer. I work on this issue by using optical technique but it seems to show difference. However, optical tools is always show variation in sample preparation process due to sample is too small. Besides, the equipment is so fragile. I try to use a gradient kiln to physically observe the sintering behavior at different temperature and measure shape and size as well as glossiness of sample. Consequently, I will use XRF to quantify ZnO and make a correlation with these information. What do you think about this plan?
Thank you Wirat, I performed bottom test at 9-interval temperature profile in both ZnO and non-ZnO containing frit by varying %kaolinite and %flux. I found out that the non-ZnO containing frit doesn't affect to %flux but ZnO-containing one does. I will plot height and diameter of sample and try to map the sintering behavior of each sample as well as observe after-firing appearance (glossiness, dullness and color).
I have plotted height Vs temperature and can't differentiate the sintering profile between ZnO and non-ZnO containing frits. However, a presence of flux in glaze formula allows me to see the difference of button shape. Meaning that, the non-ZnO containing frit does't fuse as it would be while ZnO containing frit does. Is there anyone have any explanation for these observation?
