To build the local soil type look up table from the scratch is a huge challenge coz you need all the soil properties information, ideally from the local land/soil management authorities. Then you need to manually add your new soil type record to the corresponding table in the default database of ArcSWAT. Then you need to build a new lookup file, usually txt file, to discribe the one to one relationship between soil types and their names, or codes. ArcSWAT only reads the lookup table, but their records need to be supplemented in the database. See the details in the manual. Good luck!
Look up table is the linking of the numerical values present in the soil-map raster (values in the cells) and the short names that are mentioned in the soil table in the SWAT database, given along with the various soil properties.
So creating a look up table is not tough if you know the soil map details and the corresponding soil properties.

i am also facing same problem so above both researchers are correct. for creating look up table you should first edit your default usersoil database according to your soil properties. then easily by creating text file you can create a look up table for soil database.
Hello all..even am facing the same problem..what i suppose is your attributes of raster lookup table that you prepare and swat database of default values should ultimately syncronise on the same ground..!!
