I know that we need further studies to evaluate efficacy and mechanism of action of recommended medicines in traditional medicines. For this purpose, are several animal studies with different condition needed? In fact i want to know why are different animal studies done ? I know that finally we can determine efficacy of medicines by meta analysis of different studies. But they are very time- consuming evidenced-based studies for each effect of traditional medicines.

Many works on zootherapy show that Ethnozoology is a very useful tool in the exploration of pharmacologically active substances. However there is other kind of anthropological reasons for these studies. For example, in the field of education, as they can help to understand human behavior toward health and the use of these resources. Moreover it is not only important to know the use of empirical remedies, since knowledge of magic-religious remedies have a symbolic and cultural value, it is necessary to collect and analyze. Also in many parts of the world these studies have an impact on Environmental Education and Conservation. There is a very interesting work of Alves, RRN & Rosa titled Why study the use of animal products in traditional medicines? Published in Journal of Ethnobiology and Ethnomedicine 2005, 1:5, which makes an ecological, cultural, economical and sanitary approach.

Money is the most important item that can accelerate any thing. But I thing non-governmental money is better. For example obligation of herbal drug industries for funding on research in this field can be good option!
