While the healthcare’s information is vital in controlling the spread of COVID-19 and protecting the most vulnerable populations, one area that has been progressively recognized is the key role of facilities management in controlling the spread of the disease. As COVID-19 spreads, the dependable connection between health and the built environment becomes increasingly essential. While there is still much that is unknown about this virus, there are immediate preventative steps across the real estate industry that can be taken to reduce the risk of infection. Thus, this present study aims to explore effective mitigation measures for the prevention of COVID-19 transition in the built environment.

Here where are live most buildings have hand sanitizers and they take your temprature before you can access the building. If one is detected to have a fever(high temp) the covid taskforce is called in straight away. They also have the cleaning staff disinfecting the building regularly to reduce the chances of transmission of the coronavirus.
I think automated accesses might also be a good idea to prevent people from touching in the first place
The World Health Organization (WHO) has clearly stated that social distancing is the most effective means of mitigating the spread of Corona virus. Any property management strategy aimed at reducing the transmission of the virus must incorporate this into its mode of operation.
Such strategy must be anchored on an efficient and sustainable ICT-based property management information system (PMIS) in which adequate and credible data on household's occupancy requirements in each residential neighbourhoods within each city as well as occupancy and vacancy rates, environmental quality and rental level can easily be accessed and utilized by home seekers, agents and property managers. This is necessary in getting suitable accommodation, especially for those affected by the virus who require isolation or quarantine.
In addition to other responses, the following measures and strategies need to be employed by property and facilities managers;
1. Existing tenants need to be more sensitized on what COVID-19 is and how to avoid its effects on them to enable them comply with measures that may be required.
2. Web-based activities such as advertisement of vacant accommodations, request form for accommodation seekers and tenant selection among other things are needed to reduce physical contact
3. A thorough tenant selection procedure need to be employed by gathering adequate information particularly on household size in pursuit of social distancing. This will also help in recommending appropriate accommodation for seekers
4. A good and detailed lease agreement need to be properly executed after tenant selection to forestall chances of future spread and appropriate penalty for default. In many developing countries like Nigeria, cash rental payment which encourages physical contact is still prevalent.
Stop freaking out. This virus is apparently easy to transmit, but it is not especially deadly for people without certain preexisting conditions. Most people who catch it do not even exhibit symptoms. So taking temperatures is a test with a lot of false negatives. What is needed is to get on with economic activity and (at the same time) eliminate physical contact with people who have these well-known preexisting conditions. The notion that the entire economy must shut down is wrong-headed. It will lead to the destruction of civilization. This is much more serious than the disease.

A strategic approach to property management should be considered , where management surveyor need to provide orientation to occupiers/tenants in the building on measures recommended by NCDC in Nigeria and WHO standard . Beside, an online approach to managing property is recommended , using sofrwares design for managing properties
