I prepared main chain poly(arylidene-ether)s containing tert-butylcyclohexanone in the polymer backbone using bulky substituents in the phenyl rings instead of hydrogen atoms. I want to know, how the replacement of hydrogen atoms by bulky substituents can affect on the chains packing, crystallinity and solubility of these polymers in different organic solvents.

Thanks a lot for your answer
When I tested the solubility of these polymers in different organic solvents, found that polymers containing bulky substituents in the phenyl rings were less soluble than that containing H- atoms in spite of, X-ray diffraction technique showed that the former polymers were less crystalline than the latter.
