I am working on an assignment by using the General Least Squares to fit a straight line. I got some information from this Book: ADJUSTMENT COMPUTATION_SPATIAL ANALYSIS. However, in all the examples given in the book the coordinate Positions were given their standard deviations which in effect was used to estimate the covariance matrix.

My questions now is, how can i calculate the covariance matrix for my data to enable me estimate the equivalent weight matrix?
