Following conduction of proximate analysis of sheep diet ingredients, I chose three critical chemical components (DM, NDF, and CP) to evaluate their kinetic ruminal fermentation and degradability values using in vitro degradability Daisy II (ANKOM) chamber.
For the seven diet ingredients examined and having gotten the % residues, I wanted to know how linear , multiple and step wise regression analyses are used to develop prediction equations for DMD, NDFD and CPD using nutrient concentrations in sheep diet ingredients.
How did you determine the protein content? Be aware that non protein nitrogen can be a major part of the nitrogen in ruminant diets. Its digestibility will differ from the protein nitrogen, so a simple relations between content and digestibility is unlikely to exist.
I determined protein content of the diet ingredients through the use of Kjedahl method. Am actual trying to come up with a regression equation from the results I got. I shall also conduct the in vivo trial on which it shall be compared with the in vitro study and through least square means be able to determine the line of best fit. I fully understand digestibility differences that occur between NPN and nitrogen protein .

it could be nice to know the objectives of your research to do correct suggestions. I think you have to see if you will evaluate the whole diets or the separate ingredients. in any case the food to be evaluated in vivo –or in situ- and in vitro must be the same. you can use the equation that better fix the data, see the correct replications in each case. if you use in vivo also see that maybe the animals cannot eat the maintenance levels with all diet ingredients
separately.
