If you want to be certain that the growth effect is due to mycorrhizal colonisation you must assess mycorrhizal infection. The best approach is to plan your experiment with sufficient replicates to allow sequential harvesting. Alternatively, if you are short of replicates you could take the plant out of the pot and remove some roots for assessment, but this will affect the future performance of that plant.
Mycorrhizal infection and its impact on plant growth can be visualized by visual observations and comparing it with uninoculated control and also comparing it with the treatments supplemented with different doses of chemical fertilizers.
