I am performing the experiments related to the uptake and translocation of nanoparticles iin the plant system by building a hydroponic system. After 2 weeks I found the growth of bacterial population on the surface of the roots. this is to note that I have not added nanoparticles yet into the nutrient solution yet. Bacterial population started growing up in the nutrient solution itself. Now I will have to add dissolved organic matter into the system in liquid phase. I will be happy if you can suggest me any chemical (other than sodium azide) which can prevent the bacterial growth onto the system.

theoretically you need to sterilise the entire experimental rig at the start of the experiment and then maintain sterile conditions throughout the experimental period. The hydroponic solution you could autoclave or filter-sterilise (0.2 um) if you have heat-sensitive substances in solution. Not sure how you could sterilise the plant but if you start from seeds you could use H2O2 and other methods (https://www.jstor.org/stable/4107453; Article A comparison of methods to surface sterilize wheat seeds

The air also needs to be filtered with HEPA filter. Working in a class II cabinet could be an option if you only have a few plants.
Garlic has antibacterial properties and can be tried in your ongoing experiment in increasing doses.
