If I understood your question, MODIS images can be analyzed and used to map the Land cover in terms of forests and the results of mapping can be linked with other parameters to get more detailed information about the carbon stocks.
Satellite remote sensing has been used to map aboveground biomass (AGB) and provide an overview of a variety of ways for developing and monitoring carbon stocks in forested areas around the world, notably in the tropics. The ability of satellites to quantify carbon stocks, as well as an overview of a variety of methodologies that have been developed and deployed to map AGB across a variety of environments. The data mining algorithms utilized in the context of a method based on direct usage of remote sensing measurements, whether optical or Lidar reflectance, or radar backscatter, have also improved traditional field measurements methodologies to vegetation or land cover type classes.

@Hameed, Seedahmed, & Akande, i really appreciate all your input. It is quite helpful to me as i am beginning to approach my present research from a different and better perspective. Thank you all.
