I have NHDflowline, gage location, and point sources location data, I also have weekly mean water flow data at each gage station. My ArcGIS version is 10.2.2. How can I calculate the daily travel time of river water and point sources? Thanks a lot.
The general mathematical description for the stage-discharge relation is given
as:
m hhkQ )( −= 0 (1)
Where h is the gauge corresponding to a discharge Q and h0 is the
corresponding to zero discharge k and m are constants. If the variables (Q and
H) are plotted on a log-log graph, then it generally plots in a straight line as:
log log)(log khhmQ 0 = − + (2)
Flow variation along river length
If we now consider an axis along the length of the river, the total energy (H) is
given as:
Total energy=Height of river bed above a datum+ Depth of water+ average kinetic energy head
We may plot the total energy as shown in Figure 11, where the variables are as
follows:
• Z: Height of riverbed above a datum
• h: Depth of water
• V: Average velocity at a section
These measurements can be made by using Arc GIS, using various indirect options.
Thanks. Your answer seems helpful, but the equation and figure could not display as supposed. Could send them again?
