I'm trying to simulate a crack propagation using XFEM in a material with porous faliure criterion (GTN).
When i use the "Static, General " procedure, the error is:
POROUS FAILURE CRITERIA OPTION CAN ONLY BE USED WITH *DYNAMIC, EXPLICIT PROCEDURE
However, when i use the "Dynamic, Explicit" procedure, the error is:
THIS KEYWORD IS NOT AVAILABLE IN Abaqus/Explicit
Can somone help me ? Thanks.
GTN damage model is not applicable in Standard Analysis and XFEM is not applicable in Explicit Analysis.
It is also important to say that XFEM uses linear elastic fracture mechanics, and GTN damage model considers the plastic strain and triaxiality to calculate a porosity factor which reduces the mechanical capabilities of the affected element.
Thus, the first one does not consider plasticity, and the second one needs it. They are two models incompatible between them.

If i understand well you want to tackle damage to fracture transition, by inserting a crack after a certain damage. You should maybe ask Eric Wyart or Olivier Pierard of Cenaero what is the latest status of their in house software Morfeo regarding the use of XFEM with non linear materials, damage to fracture transition and the thick level set method. What you are trying to do is probably highly labor intensive in terms of UEL, UMAT, mapping of variables between evolving meshes...
