 Check option to activate distortion control. You can  activate this in element type option.

are u using solid element? If yes, then select solid element..then activate distortion control.

Just select  higher value.....try 0.99..

Do you know if the error is due to the cohesive elements or the solid elements? If the latter, try fully integrated solids if you are using C3D8R, which are prone to distortion modes like hour glassing. Also reduce your rate of loading if you are modelling a quasi-static test. We use explicit analysis for cohesive element modelling with composites a lot at the University of Bristol as our experience is that for complex problems implicit is very difficult to obtain convergence.

Velocity will depend entirely on your loading and application. Timestep a good minimum to aim for is 1e-6. You can load faster than the test, but not so fast as to introduce dynamic effects. Typical quasi-static loading in explicit analysis is over 1-10 seconds.

"The ratio of deformation speed to wave speed exceeds 1.0000 in at least one element." 

This is caused by the large distortion of cohesive element. You need to delete them.

What I mean was to delete the distorted elements not all of them, you can define a deletion criteria either in strain control or damage control.

 If you are not studying impact, try implicit instead of explicit.

Hello everyone

I faced the same problem in Abaqus and it turned out that I have assigned the section to the element twice, by mistake. So I deleted the extra section assignment in the section assignment manager and the problem was solved
