Assessment of the soil trace metal content is of major importance nowadays, An excessive presence of metals in soils and sediments of industrial regions, particularly, and their potential leakage into surface and groundwater’s could pose environmental problems.
Following step for analysis
1. The extraction suspension prepare by mixing soil sample with deionized water in ratio 1:10
2. The mixture in rotary mixer in which the suspension can process for 22 hours mixing at 10 rpm.
3. Two extractions make for each of the following extraction times: 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 min by use of the ultrasonic bath.
4. The sequential extraction according the BCR scheme.
5. The procedure modify by adding the last step using aqua regia, according to EPA 3050B digest extract method and the third extraction step with 0.2 M ammonium oxalate/ 0.2 M oxalic
6. The content of the obtained extracts was analyzed by ICP-OES equipment type Thermo Scientific iCAP-6500 DUO ICP spectrometer.
7. The measurements conduct every 10 min for PSD and ZP, every 5 min for ORP and pH, while the conductivity was measured continuously.
The influence of ultrasonic energy on the soil sample preparation found to be significant, not only for possible decrease of the extraction time, but mainly, due to the expressed selectivity for metal species (Fe, Al and Mn)
