I'm using a comsol model with two studies. In the first, I'm doing a parametric sweep and the input to the second study depend on the parametric sweep of the first study. I need to basically sum the results of the first parametric study over the whole or partial range of the parameter (used in parametric sweep), and use it as an input to the second study. I can do this by exporting the results of the first study, and processing it outside comsol and importing it back to the second study. I would like to know how to do this within the comsol itself.

Joining the data sets will also work, but I think in this case you could easily change the above mentioned settings, and define Var_tot as a function of your first parametric study variables. I attached a file, which shows how to change those settings. You could also use COMSOL help on this section.
I didn't try it on parametric sweep studies but you should change your study setting in solver of the second study in order to define the output of your first study as input of the second one.
you should get the initial values and variables not solved for from the first study. just go to the independent variables below your second study solver. it is really straight forward but if you cannot let me know.
1) Right click on 'Data Sets' in 'Results' section and click on 'Join'.
2)When “joining”, or comparing, solutions, you will be asked to choose which two base data sets you intend to join: data1 and data2. For a parametric study, each base data set contains more than one solution. Thus, you have to decide whether you want to compare just one or all of your parameter values to the benchmark solution.
3)Once you have built the join data set, the next step is to use it in postprocessing.

What I really need to do is to add the values of one variable for all the values of parametric sweep. It is like an integration but discretized over larger intervals. what I need to do is something like,
Var_tot=Var@p1*x1+Var@p2*x2+.................Var@pn*xn where Var_tot is my input to the second study and p1,p2,...pn is parameter values I'm using for parametric sweep, and x1,x2,...xn are constants.
so I need to add the value of a certain variable across the solutions to get a total value.
