I need to sterilize crude oil for the degradation studies. I am afraid to use as such, it may contain native isolates in the small quantity Autoclave i guess it break molecules and any other ways to sterilize these hydrocarbons.

Filter sterilization works well for light crude oil. In the case of heavy crude oil, it shows filtration problem by blocking the pores. for those kind of samples any other methods available?
To sterilize do with the separation by column if there are concerns about problems instruments to be used, and if a small amount indeed seems less suitable, so the separation column method is one alternative
Maybe to try UV sterilization. I do not have any experience and, thus, have no idea about the possible impact on crude degradation. Just thinking that it could work.

You can try membrane filter (0.22µm) for light crude oil, otherwise you will need a vacuum pump to facilitate the filtration process.
