I am modeling a composite sleeve for pipeline crack repairment. The XFEM crack was made using this step : interaction -> special -> crack
I didn't specified any crack direction. For the composite wrap, I used the shell type and tie constraint to define the contact between pipe and composite wrap.
In step, i used 0.01 for the initial increment, 1 E-15 for the minimum increment, and 0.1 for the maximum increment.
When I ran the analysis, it faced a convergence error. I waited almost 6 hours until it aborts, When I checked, no results were generated
You need to define the crack direction and use proper contact (not a full tie) between the pipe and wrap. So go ahead refine the mesh near the crack and adjust increments. Also, enable stabilization or line search, as it will help you to fix XFEM convergence issues.

you can try to start with analysis of convergency report, what it says? What was the problem with convergency, which criteria was not ok?
Do you have initial crack, do you? If yes, you have to define it. How did you describe your crack growth criteria?
