I am involved in a simulation od Direct Chill Casting process of an aluminum alloy. The model is based on CFD along with a phase change but technically the flow is assumed as liquid and the eqautions that are solved on the domain are those of fluid flow along with heat transfer. I want to present in my results the dampening in velocity that occurs during solidification but i don't want to use the Cozeny-Karman equation due to convergence issues. Is there in literature a value of dynamic viscosity high enough to represent the solid phase so as to implement it in my simulation ? I know that physically this doesn't make any sense but numerically it would be a fare approach to model velocity dampening.
