Goal of the impact testing is to observe damage and what effects has the speed load on laminated composites. I am looking for information on layer orientation choices and impact damage tests.
Generally, composites design is based on in-plane and out of plane loading condition, static or dynamic. Laminate configuration, ie, layer orientation and stacking sequence can be worked out for the loading condition under consideration. Impact behavior of such laminates can be evaluated further using analytical / numerical and experimental techniques. If only transverse impact loading is under consideration, quasi-isotropic laminates and 3D composites are preferred configurations.
