Some DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) was spilled on the plastic part of our thermal cycler and when a cycle was ran, it corroded the plastic from the lid to that of the base of the instrument such that it needed to be broken apart. We are concerned that running it again will lead to the same problem since there is a white residue left behind on the plastic.
Is there a solvent that can clean the remaining DMSO residue from the plastic?

Try to use an aspirator and some convenable paper that absorbs the solution
DMSO is a very hygroscopic liquid and water-soluble (50:50). DMSO is also soluble in different organic solvents like ethanol, acetone, ether, benzene, and
chloroform. as per your suitability you can choose this solvents or water to remove the extra DMSO from plastic sheets.
