I am using the Biologic-300 potentiostat to perform LSV in order to plot polarisation and power density curves. I scan between OCV and 0 using a scan rate of 1m/s. But I usually obtain large dada ranging from 1500 to 2000 data points in a single scan. Is it possible to reduce the data points to between 50 and 100?
I have never used this type of potentiostat or the software operating it, but if it's a non-analog device you should be able to adjust a parameter called "step potential" or "potential step" to obtain more or fewer points. In general, 0.005 V is often used as a potential step for LSV, but if you make this two times higher, i.e. 0.010 V, you would obtain only half the amount of data points. Even less points if you increase it more.
Be careful however with making your set of data points too small. If you make your step potential too large, your data will become less robust and reliable.

Record " averaged over N = ……. voltage step(s)
It averages N current values on N potential steps, in order to reduce the data file size and smooth the trace. The potential step between two recording points is indicated between brackets. Once selected, an estimation of the number of points per cycle is displayed into the diagram."
Use a higher value for N .
This way, the potential step height and step duration are not modified. 50 or 100 data points per file (cycle) are too small numbers.
