How can I reduce ECM stiffness?

I would like to know if there is a way to reduce the content of collagen/fibronectin/elastin in order to make the ECM less fibrous. The integrity of the tissue itself should be maintained..so I am not looking for a decellularization procedure or collagen extraction but just how can I reduce the content of the ECM.

Hi, could you mention what tissue are you working with?

It is possible to treat the ECM scaffold with mild collagenase and/or elastase?

Could you use younger animals if the tissue in question comes from an animal?
