I doing a true experimental study in which I am examining learning behaviours among students. How can I give half of the class the treatment, and the comparison group an alternate activity without the students being aware that they belong to one group versus another? Essentially, the treatments are two learning activities/assignments that both groups would be engaged in. Thanks!
If you have 50 pupils you prepare 25 pink paper sheets and 25 blue. Tell the pupils to write their name on the colored paper sheet you randomly distribute to them and tell them also that you have prepared two types of work for them. Then you ask those who got a pink paper sheet to come and get their work E (= experimental) and those with a blue sheet to get their work C (= control group). Something like this without any drama but with the permission of the headmaster of the school.
