Super resolution (i.e. STORM/PALM) papers often state the laser illumination power in kW/cm^2. Can anyone tell me how this is measured for a TIRF system?

Is the value stated the power density at the front lens? Or would you remove the objective and measure the power at its rear aperture, then calculate the power after the objective using the manufacturers transmission datasheet?

My setup consists of a 642nm 150mW fibre coupled laser & in lens TIRF. Application is STORM super resolution
