Hi all,

I'm looking through the size of eggs in Citrus thrips for addressing the the level of egg size plasticity as an implicator of maternal resource investment and sex allocation in haplodiploid insects.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend me any reliable medium for embedding the eggs in during the process of microscopy and measurement to avoid osmolygosis or egg shriveling (or shrinking in size)?

By the way, any suggestion regarding the best method of measurement of egg size in thrips is highly appreciated!

Note: my eggs are kidney-shape and I'm going measure the equatorial width and width. Does any body know how the volume of this eggs can be approximated through projected area? Which formula?

Cheers,

Alihan
