Dear Research Community,

my research broad up that electricity in industrial scenarios is a key concern for fire fighters. That is why I would like to equip my robot with a measurement technique for probing eletrical field strenght and / or AC voltage posing danger to first responders.

There is a device dedicated for firefighters called the AC hotstick (not to be mixed up with hotsticks for life line working): https://hotstickusa.com/achotstick

Do you know what is the technical principle this works with?

I have downloaded some patents and publications related to this topic and will read them parallel to this posed question here:

https://patents.google.com/patent/US5473244

http://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/pdfs/US6825649.pdf Publication: Dual capacitive sensors for non-contact AC voltage measurement

Publication: Feasibility Study of A Non-Contact AC Voltage Measurement System

Publication: Fault Location Using Voltage Measurements

Any direct help from your side is very much appreciated.

Kind regards

Stefanie
