Recently I was asked to create a video abstract to supplement a published paper. I think that this is a very nice way to help disseminate research to wider audiences, and it will probably become more commonplace in the future.
The problem is when I record myself speaking in this 'talking head' format, I feel completely ill-at-ease and I come across as totally wooden, and thus not particularly interesting or convincing.
Any advice for creating natural and engaging video abstracts (and similar) for those who aren't naturally photogenic?
