Usually its the methodology which is the most important for HBP or dendrimer formation. In many of the publications, degree of branching are not calculated. So whats the guarantee of HBP formation?
Even if I calculated the degree of branching and followed a synthetic methodology for a hyperbranched synthesis, one of the reviewers doubted the polymer to be hyperbranched. In his view, as the polymer was not hyperbranched, there was no need to calculate DOB. This comment was very confusing.
First prove that your polymer is hyper-branched.. use two or three techniques like NMR and/or MALDI or ESI-MS to prove your point to counter his view..
I am agree with the answer of the Dr. Vadahanambi. Furthermore this can be corroborated with DLS analysis (hydrodynamic dimensions).
